Menopause happens when the ovaries are unable to produce the
hormones estrogen and progesterone.
It happens naturally to some because of the few remaining
egg cells which happens due to old age. It can also occur
because of treatments that you may have had or are still having
such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy or when the ovaries are
removed surgically.
Actually the term “menopause” means the last menstrual
period and it usually happens when the woman is more or less 50
years old. It is not a medical illness but rather part of the
great circle of life. Every woman will experience this because
it is in their nature to do so. Some may experience it earlier
while there are also some who will experience it much later on
in their life.
When it happens, your body will begin to feel the different
menopause symptoms due to the hormonal changes that is
happening in your body. It is your body’s reaction to what is
happening inside. You may have difficulty in sleeping or
frequent bouts of depression and sadness. There may also be
night sweats and irritability.
There are ways to make these menopause symptoms easier on
you and that includes hormone replacement therapy but you would
have to consult with your doctor first before taking any
medication. You can also include soy foods and other
supplements in your diet so you will not have any difficulty
with the transition.
Remember do not think of menopause as the end to your life
because it is not. Some women who have undergone through
menopause say that is the most liberating experience and the
most fun they have had when they became adults. They no longer
have to worry about pregnancy or menstruation.
